Grand Final
After 11 heats across Europe, that saw a total 44 clubs battling to take their place in the Grand Final held at Sussex County Croquet Club later this year, we can now announce the 11 finalists as:

The 11 finalists will be joined by host club Southwick to compete for the title of European Club Champions. The Grand Final will be taking place from the 10-12th October at the Sussex County Croquet Club in Southern England. Guests are welcome to come and watch the action over the weekend!

The 2025 European U21 Golf Croquet Championship concluded at the Telč Croquet Club with thrilling matches and a showcase of Europe’s rising talents. After four days of intense competition, Inigo Morenes (Spain) emerged as the champion, claiming 1st place.
Madars Reisners (Latvia) secured the runner-up position, while Nicole Kloiberova (Czech Republic) delighted the home crowd by taking 3rd place.
Other prizes were awarded as follows:

Bowl: Eduardo Nunez (Spain)
Plate: Jan Brtnik (Czech Republic)
Youngest competitor: Friedrich Saewert (Germany)
The event gathered 28 young players from across Europe, representing countries including Spain, Latvia, Czech Republic, England, Germany. The championship not only highlighted the individual skills of its players, but also underlined the growing strength and popularity of youth croquet in Europe.
The atmosphere in Telč was electric, with players and supporters celebrating both sporting excellence and international friendship.
Nominations to the 2025 WCF Hall of Fame are due by Tuesday 30th September.
So far, a total of 53 individuals have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since 2006. They include some of the greatest players in the history of the game and people who have made other significant contributions to the development and enjoyment of Croquet as administrators, coaches or benefactors. Many Members have served the game in more than one capacity.
Please send your nominations to the Secretary-General. Nominations may be made by individuals or through Member countries. Please include a citation of not less than 500 words out-lining your nominees croquet achievements. Please also send a decent photo or two that can be used on the website, should their nomination prove successful.

The WCF Management Committee is very pleased to announce that Rosemary Landrebe from Australia has been appointed Deputy Secretary-General with effect from 1 September 2025.
As previously announced, Debbie Lines will retire on 31 December 2025 on the completion of her four-year term, and it is the intention that Rosemary will become Secretary-General from 1st January 2026. She will be eligible to be appointed for a second four-year term from 1 January 2030 to 31 December 2033.
Rosemary has been a senior manager in various roles, specialising in operations management and analysis. She has experience of managing stakeholders at all levels working across sporting and not-for-profit organisations. She has also spent time supporting Croquet Australia and the New South Wales boards, working on various implementation and improvement projects and coaching programs.
Rosemary has been playing croquet for more than 40 years, plays both AC and GC at the top level, and has represented Australia and New South Wales on several occasions.
The MC believes that Rosemary’s passion and commitment to croquet and professional experience make her an ideal candidate for the role.
The first three heats of the 2025 European Club League season have all seen the hosts emerge victorious. Ikskile joining Roehampton and Club de Campo de Vigo in the Grand Final having won their heat this weekend.
After a slow start the league now gets into full swing with a heat each week until the middle of July. The host dominance will be seriously tested as holders, Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro and previous winners Dulwich, make their attempts to qualify for the Grand Final at Sussex County (England) in October.
The 2025 GC European Championship was held between 16-19 May 2025 at Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club, England. Thank you to Croquet England, the tournament organisers, the host club, all the volunteers and live stream team. We know how much work goes into running these events and so Croquet Europe would like to thank all the hardworking volunteers without which the event could not be held.

The European Regional Committee (ERC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Martins Grinhofs as our new Events Co-ordinator.
The role will involve managing all the admin required for our European Championships. Typically, the ERC schedule two to three events each year.
Martins is an IT consultant based in Sigulda, Latvia, where he is also a member of the local croquet club. He has helped to organise and run several recent Latvian events, including the European Women’s Championship and the European Under 21’s. He’s organised some of their video streaming and has been responsible for some of the social media updates. Martins is climbing the GC rankings, currently ranked in the 1700’s.
Martins says “Croquet has become a significant hobby of mine in recent years, and I am passionate about contributing to the sport's development. This role presents an exciting opportunity to further develop my skills while supporting the European Championships.”

The Management Committee (MC) are very pleased to announce that Corfu, one of the Greek islands, has requested to join the WCF. The MC have reviewed their request and can confirm that the Corfu Club meets the requirements to join the WCF as a Recognised Croquet Organisation (RCO).
The club, based near Gouvia on Corfu, has been established for many years. It has four lawns, and regularly hosts tournaments open to visitors, both in GC and AC. The thriving club has an active membership who play mainly GC and One Ball, with just a small amount of AC played.
